Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi Maldives: Everything You Need to Know Before It Opens
The Maldives has welcomed hundreds of luxury resorts. Very few have arrived carrying three Michelin stars, an Italian fashion house's name, and a villa on its own private island. Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi opens in 2026 — and it is unlike anything currently in the archipelago.
For those who follow luxury hospitality, the news has been building since 2022. Bvlgari, the Roman jewellery house whose hotels in Milan, Dubai, Bali, and Tokyo have set a consistent standard for Italian-designed luxury, is finally coming to the Maldives. And the way they are doing it — intimately, deliberately, on one of the archipelago's most pristine atolls — says everything about what the experience will be.
At IM, we have been actively tracking the best openings for our clients closely. This is our complete guide to what Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi is, why it matters, and what guests planning a stay in 2026 need to know right now.
What Is Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi?
The island name Ranfushi is commonly interpreted as meaning “little golden island. It is a characteristically Bvlgari touch: the reference to gold is present, but worn lightly.
Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi will be set on Raa Atoll in the Maldives archipelago and will be the brand's entry into the Indian Ocean, comprising 20 hectares of pristine natural beauty.
This will be Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts’ first property in the Maldives, expanding the brand’s small global portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts.
The resort is located in the Raa Atoll of the Maldives archipelago, 45 minutes by seaplane from Malé airport, surrounded by pristine waters and framed by lush, landscaped gardens. We had the luxury to witness the island while we travel to our nearby Raa Atoll Partner Resorts. Maybe some of our guests must have seen as well, though the number of properties been developed, you might not be able to distinguish which island is Ranfushi.
What distinguishes Ranfushi from the wave of new luxury openings across the Maldives is its intentional scale. This is not a resort built for volume. It is built for precision.
54 Villas. That Is the Number to Understand.
The resort comprises 54 keys including an exclusive Bvlgari Villa on its own island, 33 beach villas with individual swimming pools and 20 overwater villas.
In a destination where some properties operate 200 or more villas, 54 is a statement. Every interaction — at the restaurant, at the spa, on the water — is shaped by the fact that Ranfushi will never feel crowded. That is not an accident. It is the product.
The Beach Villas — 33 in total, each with a private pool — sit within the island's gardens, connected to the beach. Designed by ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, the structures are low-slung and integrated into the landscape, using natural materials and open sightlines to minimise visual impact.
The Overwater Villas — 20 villas positioned directly above the lagoon. The Bvlgari visual language — clean lines, natural textures, Italian craftsmanship — translated into one of the world's most iconic formats.
The Bvlgari Villa — a category that exists nowhere else in the Maldives at this brand level. A singular villa set on its own private island, completely separate from the main resort.
For honeymoons, significant anniversaries, or guests for whom privacy is the primary requirement, there is nothing comparable. This is the villa that will be spoken about.
Dining: Four Concepts, All With Serious Credentials
Gastronomy at Bvlgari properties is never secondary. Dining will be a central part of the resort experience, with four signature culinary venues.
Il Ristorante – Niko Romito offers contemporary Italian cuisine curated by the three-Michelin-starred chef, whose minimalist approach has become synonymous with Bvlgari dining worldwide. For guests who have dined at Bvlgari properties elsewhere, this is the dining room they already know. For those experiencing it for the first time in the Maldives, it will be a discovery.
Bao Li Xuan presents Chinese fine dining rooted in seasonality and balance — the twin of the two-Michelin-starred restaurant at Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai.
Hōseki brings the Japanese concept already present at Bvlgari Resort Dubai — omakase-style dining where the quality of ingredient does the work.
La Spiaggia offers relaxed beachside Italian dining — the Amalfi Coast translated to the Indian Ocean.
The Bvlgari Bar anchors the social life of the island. In every Bvlgari property it is a destination in itself. Here, it trades city skylines for open water and the slow descent of a Maldivian evening.
Wellness and the Island
The Bvlgari Spa offers treatment rooms, a fitness centre, a yoga pavilion, and a private library. The library detail is intentional — it signals a pace of life, a type of guest, and a clear philosophy about what luxury time is actually for.
On sustainability: Bvlgari has created a dedicated new island within the atoll specifically to host a nesting bird population. This is not a standard resort conservation pledge. It is an ecological commitment written into the physical design of the property from the ground up.
La Galleria — Bvlgari's curated retail concept — will also be present, offering fashion, accessories, and design objects as an extension of the brand's lifestyle universe.
Why Raa Atoll — and Why It Matters
The choice of Raa Atoll shapes everything about what this stay will actually feel like.
Raa sits in the northern Maldives, away from the resort-dense central atolls. Its reefs have experienced significantly less tourism pressure than those in North or South Malé Atoll, resulting in healthier coral formations, more natural marine behaviour, and encounters with reef sharks, rays, and turtles that happen without a fleet of other boats nearby.
The marine story of Raa has a specific and remarkable chapter. Maamunagau Lagoon — in the southwest of the atoll — has been identified by the Manta Trust and confirmed by National Geographic as the first known manta ray nursery in the Maldives. Pregnant mantas arrive to give birth; juvenile pups remain in the lagoon's protected, plankton-rich waters for months before moving further out. It is one of the only places on earth where encounters with newborn manta rays are a realistic possibility.
For guests who care about what is beneath the surface, this atoll is not a substitute for anywhere else. It is a destination in its own right.
The neighbouring Baa Atoll — a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve — sits just across the Moresby Channel, where Hanifaru Bay hosts one of the world's greatest seasonal manta aggregations between June and October. Guests staying at Ranfushi are within reach of both.
What to Know About Booking Ranfushi
Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi has not yet opened public reservations. For a property of this profile, early access mostly moves through specialist partners before general release — and at 54 villas, the inventory is genuinely small.
Peak Maldives season runs December through April. The opening phase of a new resort can sometimes present favourable early booking opportunities before the property becomes widely established. Once a property of this standing establishes its reputation, rates move in one direction.
IM's promise to clients always is the direct relationship with the the partner properties across the archipelago. We have direct access to new resort openings we feel best for our clients - leisure, weddings and mice - and can posiiton our clients ahead of general availability. If Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi is on your list for 2026 — a honeymoon, a significant anniversary, or simply because nothing else this year compares — the moment to register your interest is now.
Also Opening in the Maldives: 2026–2028
Bvlgari is the headline opening of 2026, but it is not arriving alone.
Mondrian Maldives opens in Noonu Atoll this year — 105 private pool villas and a design-led lifestyle brand entering the Indian Ocean for the first time. Rosewood Ranfaru and Capella Maldives follow in 2027. Nobu Hotel Maldives completes the wave in 2028 on a private island in Laamu Atoll.
We are tracking all of them. Our team can advise on which new property fits your travel profile, your dates, and what you are looking for in the Maldives — whether that is a first stay or a return to somewhere that has already set the standard.
IM Maldives is a luxury Maldives DMC with direct access to the archipelago's leading properties. Just the Maldives, done properly.
