Vegan Dining in the Maldives
Three resorts with dedicated plant-based restaurants. The rest range from excellent to barely trying.
Resorts with Dedicated Plant-Based Restaurants
These three have purpose-built restaurants. Not a vegan section on a regular menu.
Patina Maldives, Fari Islands

All-Inclusive Vegan: What to Expect
Honest answers to the questions vegan travelers always ask.
Buffet variety
Most all-inclusive buffets have 3-5 vegan options. Often the same rotation. Ask for special preparation if bored.
Hidden dairy
Bread, sauces, and desserts often contain butter or cream. Ask kitchen staff directly; buffet labels can be inaccurate.
Protein sources
Tofu, tempeh, and legumes are available at luxury resorts. Mid-range resorts may rely on chickpeas and lentils primarily.
Plant milk
Oat, soy, and almond milk available at most 5-star resorts. Mid-range resorts may only have soy. Bring your own if particular.
Before You Book
Email Ahead
Email the resort (not just the booking platform) at least two weeks before arrival. Ask for a sample vegan menu.
Pack Snacks
Protein bars, nutritional yeast, nut butter packets. Even the best resorts have gaps. You are on a remote island.
First Day Meeting
Ask for a meeting with the chef on day one. At luxury resorts, they will plan your meals for the entire stay.
