Every Maldives resort is its own island. In Thailand, you share the island with other hotels, restaurants, and locals. This is the single biggest difference.

Thailand has a few floating hotels (like 500 Rai in Khao Sok) but nothing like the Maldives overwater villa experience. Glass floors, direct ocean access, and reef below your deck do not exist in Thailand.
World-Class House Reef
Step off your beach into a living coral reef. The Similan Islands have good diving, but you cannot snorkel off your hotel beach. In the Maldives, the reef is your front yard.
Street Food

Temples and Culture
