Alifu Dhaalu Atoll
The Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, or the Southern Ari Atoll, lies on the south of the line between the Himendhoo Dhekunugandu and Genburugau Kando channels. It hosts several historical sites such as the ancient Fenfushi mosque with intricately decorated wooden ceilings and panels covered in lacquer work.
Resort properties in the atoll include the iconic Radisson Blu, Lily Beach Resort, as well as Conrad Maldives Rangali. There are nearly 75 guesthouses dotted around the atoll, suited to a variety of needs. Whether you are looking for a serene, relaxing holiday or one packed with adventure, the Alifu Dhaalu Atoll offers every experience imaginable.
On the southeast rim of the atoll lies Dhigurah, which directly translates to "long islands". It has a picturesque pearly white beach and lush green foliage. The sandbanks at the southern end are the ideal location for picnics and photoshoots.
The Ari Atoll provides a plethora of underwater adventures for snorkelers and divers. Kudarah Thila is a protected marine area home to an abundance of snappers, gobies, groupers, grey reef sharks, dartfish, and more. More experienced divers can navigate through the Gangehi Kandu. It is a tricky site with colourful corals that is ideal for diving with sharks and pelagic species. However, it should only be visited when the currents are flowing into the site.
