For families

Maldives family holidays

IM Maldives plans family trips from three guests to multi-generational groups. We match the resort to your children's ages — kids' clubs, connecting villas, safe lagoons, child meal plans — and coordinate the full trip end to end.

Why IM

What we plan for families

Local destination knowledge, resort partnerships, and honest advice — so your family trip is matched to your children's ages, not just a generic label.

Resort matched to ages

Kids' clubs, teen programmes, baby-friendly lagoons — we filter by who's actually travelling, not a generic 'family-friendly' label.

Family villas & connecting rooms

Two-bedroom villas, interconnecting rooms, beach villas with direct access (safer for toddlers than overwater). Checked against availability before quoting.

Transfers for all ages

Speedboat for flexibility with nap schedules, seaplane for older kids who'll love the view. We match the transfer to your youngest traveller.

Child meal plans

Free or discounted kids' meals at most resorts. Dietary needs (allergies, halal, vegetarian) flagged at booking so the kitchen is ready.

Multi-generational groups

Grandparents, aunts, cousins — villa blocks, group transfers, shared dining, and enough space for everyone to have their own pace.

One contact, one quote

Resort, villas, transfers, meals, kids' club check, excursions — all coordinated and quoted all-in. No surprises on arrival.

Common questions

Maldives family holidays — what parents ask

What's the best age to take children to the Maldives? +
Any age works, but each has different considerations. Toddlers (1–3) do well at speedboat-transfer resorts (no seaplane luggage stress, flexible nap schedules). Children 4–12 thrive at resorts with kids' clubs (Finolhu, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, Emerald). Teenagers prefer resorts with watersports, diving, and social spaces (Siyam World, The Standard Huruvalhi). We match the resort to the ages in your group.
Which Maldives resorts are best for families? +
Resorts with kids' clubs, connecting or family villas, and child meal plans: Finolhu (Baa Atoll, excellent kids' club), Sun Siyam Iru Fushi (Noonu, huge island with activities), Emerald Maldives (Raa, all-inclusive with kids' pool), Furaveri (Raa, family villas + kids' club), Patina Maldives (Fari Islands, Footprint kids' club), Vakkaru (Baa, marine centre). For value: Fihalhohi, Safari Island, Sun Siyam Olhuveli.
Do Maldives resorts have kids' clubs? +
Most 5-star and many 4-star resorts have supervised kids' clubs, typically free for ages 4–12 (some from age 3). Activities include snorkelling lessons, marine biology sessions, arts and crafts, and coconut painting. Some resorts also have teen clubs (12–17) with watersports and social programmes. Adults-only resorts (You & Me Maldives, Hurawalhi, Adaaran Prestige Vadoo) don't accept children at all — we filter these out when planning family trips.
Are connecting or family villas available? +
Yes — many resorts offer two-bedroom family villas (Finolhu, Emerald, Siyam World) or connecting villa pairs that share a private courtyard or pool. Family beach villas with direct beach access are generally more practical with young children than overwater villas (which have open decks over water). We specifically check villa configurations against your children's ages before recommending.
How much does a Maldives family holiday cost? +
A family of four (2 adults + 2 children) at a mid-range resort typically costs $6,000–$15,000 for 5–7 nights including accommodation, transfers, and half-board. All-inclusive resorts offer better value for families (children eat and drink freely). Value resorts with kids' clubs start around $4,000 for 5 nights. We quote all-in so there are no surprises.
What about child meal plans and dietary needs? +
Most resorts offer discounted or free child meal plans (typically 50% off or free for under-6, 50% off for 6–12). All-inclusive is usually the best value for families. Resorts accommodate dietary needs (allergies, halal, vegetarian) — we flag these at booking so the kitchen is prepared before you arrive.
Is the seaplane transfer OK for young children? +
Yes — children of all ages fly seaplanes daily. Under-2s travel free on most operators; 2–11 get reduced fares. The flight is 25–60 minutes and most children enjoy it. The main consideration: seaplanes only operate 06:00–15:30, so arrive in Malé before 15:00. For families with very young children who want simpler logistics, we often recommend speedboat-transfer resorts (15–45 minutes, any time of day).
