As a travel writer myself, the headline of the new Hallmark movie caught my attention. ‘Love in the Maldives’. 

This romance comedy features two upcoming hallmark stars Jocelyn Hudson who play Rae, a career-focused travel writer and Jake Manley, her love interest who takes you on a Maldivian adventure of a lifetime.

As the name gives it away, love in the Maldives is filmed in the idyllic island sanctuary of the Maldives, and many are wondering whether this movie is worth the watch and if it will help you decide your next trip to the Maldives.

Gist of the Movie

This movie takes us on an adventure, we all wish would come true. As travel writer Rae, who is asked to write a travel review about the Maldives discovers that this peaceful getaway might have hidden secrets, Rae sets out on an adventure of a lifetime.

While Rae is set on discovering the secrets hidden away in the shipwrecks of Maldives, fate brings her to meet Jared, who is in the Maldives for a meditation class. 

Who knew a mindful zen-bro and an adventurous travel writer could set out into the seas to discover the hidden secrets in this secluded getaway?

Victory wreck is the remains of a sunken cargo ship that sank while travelling from Singapore in 1981. This wreck is filled with beautiful corals and sea creatures and if you are lucky you might even catch the glimpse of a turtle! 

02. Keydhoo Wreck

Cultures merge with the Keydhoo wreck as this wreck is thought to be an Indonesian vessel. This wreck is uniquely beautiful as it allows you to dive through the captain’s cabin and get on a bike that is attached to the hell of the wreck. Location to some of the most unique and Instagram-worthy photos in The Maldives, Keydhoo wreck is an iconic location you must visit!

03. Kudhimaa Wreck

If you are located at Lily beach resort Maldives, the Kudhimaa wreck is a scenic 40 minutes away. This wreck dates back to 1998 and is home to a school of batfish, boxfish and lion fishes. The Kudhimaa wreck offers a great location for shooting photos and videos as part of the wreck is above water, providing one of the most sought-after views for adventure seekers!

04. The Shipyard 

This one is one of the biggest and most popular wrecks in the Maldives. Located in Lhaviyani Atoll. The shipyard is around 20 metres below water, covered with colourful corals, and marine and reef life that one cannot bore of. What makes the shipyard so unique is that this location has two different wrecks that can be explored during good visibility!
