Island Hopping Diaries: My Trip to Fehendhoo
Recently, I found out about a small island called Fehendhoo, located in Baa Atoll. Baa Atoll itself is known for its natural beauty due to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, homing to some of the most colourful marine life in the country.
The small island of Fehendhoo is home to a population as small as 100 people, a few guest houses and two shops! This trip was my addition to a ‘local island Maldives’ experience, and I really got the authentic experience.
Fehendhoo takes away the general idea of a resort as a luxury resort destination, yet it still keeps the feel of a tropical getaway. Coconut palms, white sandy beaches, clean air and an abundance of local culture to explore is what Fehendhoo is all about.
How to get to Fehendhoo?
With transfers to Fehendhoo being hosted from the capital city two times a day, there was no struggle or hassle when it came to the travel. I hopped onto the speedboat, and the 1 hrs and 45 minutes passed by in a blink.

Have you ever gone island hopping in Maldives? Due to its location, Fehendhoo has two other local islands to explore nearby, making it the perfect spot for island hopping. Just a short ride away are Goidhoo and Fulhadhoo, where travellers can enjoy an abundance of island life and watersports!
This makes Fehendhoo feel like the perfect spot for those who wonder about ‘island hopping Maldives price’, as you can explore three islands for extremely low rates!

Exploring the island
Fehendhoo is the perfect tropical island. The slow-paced island life, small roads and friendly locals make this island the perfect place to unplug. Almost all corners of the island are reachable on foot, but you can also get access to motorbikes and buggies on the island.
In almost every corner of the island, you can find locals chattering away, enjoying the slow life. While some are gathered to make traditional snacks, others are chattering away enjoying a game of chess by the beach. Due to the small population, the locals are extremely friendly, often offering drinks and snacks – the true Maldivian hospitality.
The island also has two little stores and cafes that visitors can explore. Not only can you get access to freshly caught seafood, but you can also explore authentic Maldivian dishes on this island. One thing I noticed while walking around on the island was that a lot of the local households prepare Maldivian snacks, which you can try out in Fehendhoo!
If you’re looking for a tranquil getaway, Fehendhoo is the perfect spot to explore on your next vacation. Book your stay in Fehendhoo now, and explore the beauty of Baa Atoll today!
