Island Hopping Diaries: My stay at Tropical Tree, Fehendhoo
If you’ve ever found yourself looking up ‘vacation in Maldives’ or ‘how to go island hopping in Maldives’, I’ve got the perfect spot for you.
On a recent trip to explore Baa Atoll, my friend and I came across this small island named Fehendhoo. Not only did this discovery give us the perfect opportunity to explore a lesser-known island but also we got the experience of Fehendhoo hospitality during our stay.
Located just 1 hour and 45 minutes away from Male City, Fehendhoo is a small island with a population of around 100 people. Along with the peace and quiet of such a small island, Fehendhoo also brought some of the most scenic island views we have ever seen.
Our four-day trip to this island was filled with long days by the beach, under the swaying coconut palms just enjoying the bliss of the small island.
When visiting a small island like this, one question that many people have is where to stay in Fehendhoo or does Fehendhoo have hotels and guesthouses.
For our stay, we chose this beautiful guesthouse called Tropical Tree. Why did we choose this stay? Not only was the guesthouse located perfectly near the beach, but the dining locations, the rooms and the feel of the whole guesthouse tied in perfectly with the vibes of the island.
Getting to Tropical Tree
After our transfer from Male’, we were a bit worried about getting around the island. But all our worries disappeared as soon as we stepped foot on the island. Upon our arrival, the staff at Tropical Tree came to receive us in the guesthouse buggy and gave us a small tour of the island on the way to the guesthouse.
The guesthouse itself was extremely green and located by the beach – perfect for a mini-vacation. The little fish pond at the entrance added an extremely serene touch to the property as well.

Rooms in Fehendhoo
The expansiveness of Tropical Tree imparts an airy sensation, accentuated by the innovative concept of open-concept bathrooms. Moreover, the rooms are thoughtfully equipped with an array of modest yet indispensable amenities, ranging from essential toiletries to the comforting presence of coffee, tea, and even a trusty blow-dryer.
Where to eat in Fehendhoo?
One of the best things about Tropical Tree is its dining outlet. Located separately from the rooms, the restaurant has a scenic view of the beach. It was a dream to have all my meals by the beach!
It was even better at night, the dining under the stars experience was exquisite. Sitting by the beach, listening to the sounds of the waves and eating freshly caught seafood… it’s like luxury on a budget.
Everything from breakfast to dinner, and even the evening tea was extremely refreshing.
Things to do in Fehendhoo?
Though the island might be small, during your stay at Tropical Tree there is an abundance of activities to explore. If you’re sporty, you can play football with the locals. But if you’re looking for something beachy, everything from snorkelling to watersports is also available.
You can also book different excursions. One thing that took me by surprise is that Fehendhoo has manta spottings all year round! You can easily book an excursion with Tropical Tree for this. But if sunset fishing is more of your vibe, these clear waters would make it quite the experience as well!
Fehendhoo is not only a destination for relaxing and exploring. The island also has a perfect touch of romance to it. If you’re looking to do something special for your loved one, you can easily book a romantic dinner with Tropical Tree as well! Dine under the stars at the secluded beach and get the most scrumptious food with romantic vibes.
